Jamsrandorj Galsan

G. Jamsrandorj worked in public and private companies about 50 years in gold, copper and uranium deposits, worked at the Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, at the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources of Mongolia. He has extensive experience in geological prospecting, exploration and reserve calculation of ore deposits. He  is a Ph.Doctor. He is the first in Mongolia to introduce heap leaching of gold-bearing ores at the Olon Ovoot deposits in southern Mongolia. He is one of the members of the discovery of one of the world 10 largest copper-gold porphyry deposits of Oyu Tolgoi and the largest gold plecer district of Zaamar in Mongolia, participated in the exploration and calculation of reserves of the uranium deposits of Mongolia Dornod, Nemer, Mardaingol, Dald and Khairkhan.

Uranium expert of the state-owned company Monatom and actively participated in the preparation of the draft law on amendments and additions to the law “on nuclear energy of Mongolia” in the Mongolian Parliament and the agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the French company Orana for uranium mining at the Zoovch Ovoo deposits in Mongolia.
Jamsrandorj has a list of more than 50 publications printed by both national and international scientific journals. He is the author or co-author of more than 10 books and 20 geological reports devoted to the geology and mineral potential of Mongolia. He published the book “Discovery Oyu Tolgoi” in the Elsever publishing company with a group of authors, the first to give the discovery of ‘secret’ information about uranium in Mongolia in the Red Book of the IAEA in 1993. G. Jamsrandorj with J. Byamba, and Y.B. Mironov prepared and published a new monograph “Geodynamics and metallogeny of uranium in Mongolia” (Ulaanbaatar, 2019), reflecting the connections of uranium mineralization with the geodynamic conditions of the development of the earth’s crust. Jamsrandorj was selected to participate in the group of experts to provide recommendations on the application of the resource/reserve classifications in Mongolia.

Uranium Deposits of Mongolia

E-Book

This book contained the geological investigation condition of the territory of Mongolia for uranium, the geodynamic position of the uranium mineralization. To delineate metallogenic zoning for uranium in the territory of Mongolia, we determined geodynamic settings based on the development of geological complexes and formations with which uranium mineralization is related both genetically and spatially. It should be noted that a larger number of NRE radio-geochemical anomalies are associated with various types of rocks of different ages and genesis. However, a careful study of the distribution and composition of these rocks showed that uranium mineralization is associated with igneous rocks of active continental margins and their back-arc (back-arc) structures of rift origin. In addition, mostly in Eastern and Northern Mongolia, uranium mineralization is also associated with alkaline bimodal volcanic of the rift origin. This pattern has been noted previously by various researchers. The main regularities in the distribution of uranium objects based on the geodynamic position of tectonics are revealed,...
