Women Street Photographers
Hardcover
Thoroughly updated and revised to feature new photographers and over sixty new images, this acclaimed celebration of street photography shows how women transform passing encounters into pictures charged with beauty, humor, mystery, and human connection. This completely revised edition of the widely praised and bestselling global survey brings together women working in the steadily evolving field of street photography. This book features many remarkable scenes—there is the anonymous New Yorker distinguished by her sculptural red hair; young men arranged around a poised central figure in Punjab; and a surreal confrontation on the beach at Coney Island. The new selection reflects the vast growth of the Women Street Photographers community, introducing emerging practitioners alongside recent work by returning contributors. The book traces the continuing development of their individual approaches. Samoilova curates a diversity of voices from different countries, generations, and styles in conversation, while personal statements reveal the patience, intuition, and circumstances behind each image.
