Arturo Evangelista

Arturo Evangelista, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and an internationally recognized cardiologist specializing in cardiovascular imaging and aortic diseases. He completed his cardiology training in 1982, obtained his MD, PhD from UAB, and was awarded the title of Professor Honoris Causa by the Universidad de Córdoba, Argentina, He served as Head of the Cardiac Imaging Department and Director of the Aortic Diseases Unit (CSUR, GUARD-HEART, VASCERN) at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, Barcelona, and later as Co-Coordinator of the Cardiac Research Department at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute. He has been director of 16 doctoral theses. He has held leadership positions within the European Society of Cardiology and the Spanish Society of Cardiology and was instrumental in establishing the ESC Working Group on Aortic Diseases and the Aortic Valve and Aortic Diseases Section of the Spanish Society of Cardiology. He has also served as Vice President of the Spanish Society of Cardiology and President of the Catalan Society of Cardiology. Professor Evangelista has been a founding member or Steering Committee member of major international initiatives, including IRAD, BAVCon, MAC, and VASCERN. He has authored more than 500 peer-reviewed publications, with over 49,700 citations (H-index 84), co-authored four ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines and eight international imaging recommendations, edited five books, written 46 book chapters, and serves on the editorial boards of leading cardiovascular journals.
