He then pursued postdoctoral research at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China from 1999 to 2000. In 2009, he was a visiting scholar at the Materials Research Institute of Pennsylvania State University, the USA.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003eHis research interests include nonlinear acoustics, medical ultrasound, and ultrasonic non-destructive testing. Professor Liu has led several key research projects, including a national key research and development plan and six Chinese National Natural Science Foundation projects. He has also participated in four major national scientific research projects and one key project of the National Natural Science Foundation. His work has resulted in the development of a new type of piezoelectric ultrasonic sensor, which has been appraised as reaching an internationally advanced level.
