He holds a PhD in Collective Health from the Institute of Social Medicine of the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1997). He has supervised master’s theses and doctoral dissertations, participated in events and published scientific articles in the field of digital media and health during the last 15 years. He coordinates the “Internet, Health and Society Laboratory” (LaISS) at FIOCRUZ, where he conducts research on digital literacy and evaluation of the quality of health information in digital media with residents of low-income communities. He is one of the editors of the book \u003cem\u003eThe Internet and Health in Brazil: Challenges and Trends\u003c\/em\u003e (Springer, 2019).  He conducted postdoctoral studies in health sociology at the Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco (2006).
